The beers tasted were : Daura, Green’s Amber Ale, St. Paulis, Green’s Double Dark and Bards.
Daura was the best, but it has 6ppm gluten so i guess it’s not technically gluten free. It’s the only one of the beers made with barley malt, and then the gluten is “removed”. All the others are made with sorghum malt. The Green’s Amber Ale and St. Paulis Sorghum Beer were the best. I was hoping the Green’s Dubble Dark would be like a Guinness but no luck. If anything, it’s like a snakebite; dark beer with a bit of a cidery tang. Bard’s was added just so people could sample what a bad GF beer tastes like.
All of these (plus one more Green’s, a Belgian ale) are available at Grass Roots in Five Points, and the guy I talked to had tasted them all and seemed fairly knowledgeable about what’s available.
